look out – a person who gives a warning to the captain
to look out (for sb/sth) - to try to avoid sth bad happening or doing sth bad
a liner – a large passenger ship
a warning call – information about possible danger
the ship was leaning – not straight (lean – pochylać się)
wreckage - the parts of a vehicle, building, etc. that remain after it has been badly damaged or destroyed (szczątki)
a near miss – pass; narrowly avoided collision involving two or more aircraft, ships, boats, or motor vehicles
to be puzzled – when sb is confused (zdziwiony, zakłopotany)
foresee – to think sth is going to happen in the future; to know about sth before it happens  (przewidywać)
maiden voyage – pierwszy rejs

conservation – environmental protection (ochrona przyrody); person - conservationist
starvation - the state of suffering and death caused by having no food
to starve - to suffer or die because you do not have enough food to eat; to make sb suffer or die in this way
starving – extremely hungry

iceberg - an extremely large mass of ice floating in the sea
sink - to damage a boat or ship so that it goes below the surface of the sea, etc. (tonąć)
icy - very cold
lifeboat - a special boat that is sent out to rescue people who are in danger at sea (łódź, szalupa ratunkowa)
knot - a unit for measuring the speed of boats and aircraft; one nautical mile per hour (miara prędkości statku)
